Handsome Taco has come a long way in the nine days he has been with us.  From a terrified stray who had to be trapped to be brought to the shelter, he now walks confidently in and out of his kennel for leash walks and also willingly comes back in!

About 2 or 3 years old and weighing 25-30 pounds, he is a nice size. Taco has now been vaccinated and appears to be housebroken because he tries to keep his kennel clean and relieves himself pronto once he gets outside.  Every day he shows us a little bit more of himself, and yesterday we learned that he knows “sit”.  Taco loves cheese and this makes him easy to train.  He also LOVES to roll in the grass and can barely make it 10 feet before throwing himself on the ground in a fit of pure joy.

He enjoys being petted and having a little massage, but at this point his manners aren’t the best. He can be a little mouthy, meaning he may grab your hands or jump up and grab your clothes. But we are happy with his progress and will continue to work with him.

Until we get to know him better, at this point we recommend no children, a fenced yard and an adopter with some familiarity in positive reinforcement training methods.  If you have ever taken a dog or two through a Basic Obedience class, you are perfect for Taco.

He does like other dogs. Please apply to adopt: www.forensiccampbellcounty.org. PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com.
