UPDATE: Do you struggle with anxiety? Did you know cats can too? Winslow displays many textbook signs of anxiety in cats in both his behavior and body language. Unfortunately, after 2 years in a foster home and many attempts at treatment, little has changed to help him be less anxious. No one is quite sure how old he is. First, the vet thought he was five and then another vet thought he was fifteen. He came to Virginia from Arizona after his previous owner passed away without medical records to tell us his age. However old he is, he still has lots of love left to give. While he is very timid at first, once he finds his person he'll be yours forever. He will stand up on his hind legs and ask you to pick him up, put him on your shoulder and carry him around. He likes to press his head and lean into his human. He will sleep glued next to you at night and will even hold onto you while he sleeps. Unfortunately, his anxiety also means he will try to lick you excessively when he is stressed. Even worse, he has problems with inappropriate elimination (aka not using his litter box all the time). His foster mom has tried multiple litter boxes and different kinds of litter to no avail. The good news is he does use a pee pad outside the box with regularity. His foster mom and vet believe there is a chance his anxiety might be relieved in a single cat household with no other pets. As he currently shares his home with multiple foster cats and a dog, there is no way to currently test this theory. We know a (possibly) senior cat with behavioral issues that may or may not have a cure is a tough sell. However, his foster mom insists he is an exceptional cat and his right person is out there. - - -

Six-to-seven-year old Winslow has come out of his self-imposed isolation, and told us it’s time to find a family! Winslow, a native of Arizona, waited until the groundhog assured him that Spring has sprung, and soon he won’t know the difference between Arizona and Virginia. This snuggly chunky boy is neutered, current with vaccines, and would appreciate a quiet home with older folks to keep him company. We love Winslow because he never gives up, and he waited until we were receptive to his conditions for showing his face. Look at his unique markings! He is so handsome. His foster mom will make sure the fit is just right before he leaves her.

He has been around other cats most of his life and has done well with them.  Winslow is very shy, but is absolutely fine being handled, stroked, and brushed. He does not object to someone picking him up, although it can be a challenge just because of his size! If you love black and white cats, and are willing to give a cat time to adapt, please consider Winslow for your next for companion. He has been updated with vaccines, is micro chipped, and has been tested for FELVFIV.
